My First Toe Up - DONE!

Started Aug 2/09 Finished Sept 25/09

Fiberphile has KAL (knit a long) and she said any pattern from Socks from the Toe Up by Wendy Johnson. I just got that book from Amazon.com not too long a go. I decided to do the Lacy Rib Socks http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lacy-ribs-socks. They will be in Fiberphile Yarns & Hand-Dyed Fibers Mosaic Super Squish Sock's Dark Bloom. I finally managed to do the Turkish cast-on last night after 4 tries. Watching someone do it on You-tube with needles in the left hand helped me a lot (the book shows it with the needles in the right hand). I figured out that I knit left handed continental method rather then right handed English Method.

So far this is a nice and easy lace pattern!

Aug 18/09 Started the gusset!
Aug 20/09 Finished the heel, its not pretty. I’m glad I did the Silver Sock class before this so I knew what I was doing wrong at the heel. I messed up and the count wasn't working but I knew that I should be picking up the side so I just did it. I ended up with way too many stitches some how so I had to decrease which is why it doesn't look at all like it should.

Aug 30/09 Finished the first sock!
I did a much nicer job of the heel on the second sock. It always take me one try of a pattern to figure out the kinks. I would have finished quicker if I didn't try to work on 5 projects at a time.
Needles: Size 0 47" circular needle

Yarn: Fiberphile Yarns & Hand-Dyed Fibers Mosaic Super Squish Sock in Dark Bloom

Christmas Hat - DONE!

Started Sept 2/09 Finished Sept 10/09

It's time for Christmas knitting. This hat will be for our neighbor. She wanted a blue hat. I casted on only 56 stitches rather then the 72 (it was way too big). I am doing it on size 10 since I don't have size 10 dpns. I ended up finishing it with a magic loop.

Needles: Size 10

Yarn: Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in 135 Spice

Man Slippers - DONE!

Started Aug 26/09 Finished Aug 29/09

So far this is a real easy knit. I would suggest that you sew up the heel before deciding how long to make them. I made them bigger thinking they were too small but then realize they were really too big and had to take them apart.

Aug 28/09 - one done already

Needles: Size 13

Yarn: Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in navy 2 skeins

Pink & Purple Sock - DONE!

Started Jul 8/09 Finished Aug 26/09

My second sock! I hope to actually finish a pair of socks.

Jul 24/09 I'm about 2 inches before the heel. It's pretty easy for now its K2, P2

Jul 27/09 I got to the heel and turned it! The gusset was a bit trick but I got it.

Jul 31/09 I moved to the magic loop method! So nice not to see ladders in my sock!!

Aug 4/09 Working on the toes. Almost done the first sock!!

Aug 5/09 Finished one sock!!

Aug 8/09 The second sock seems to go faster on magic loop then double pointed needles.

Aug 16/09 I've started the heel on the second sock.

I ended up changing the instructions to work on the magic loop. I'm very happy with my first pair of socks!!

Needles: Size 2

Slippers - DONE!

Started Aug 13/09 Finished Aug 23/09

I'm making a pair for me first so I can figure out the bugs of the pattern and then making a pair for a gift. So far its pretty easy and I'm done the heel and working the body after an hour of knitting!

Aug 16/09 I've finished one slipper!

Aug 20/09 I've started the other slipper.

These would have taken me about 3 days to finish a pair if I didn't have 4 other projects on the go!

Needles: Size 5 double pointed needles

My First Wollmeise Purchase!

Actually the name of the store is Rohrspatz & Wollmeise. The yarn is dyed in Germany. Most people refer to the yarn as Wollmise or WM for short. It's very popular yarn and most of the time the store is empty. When there is yarn (sock, worsted and lace weight) its gone in a matter of an hour or less. I happened to be on Ravelry when someone announced that there was lace weight yarn on the site. Lace weight has been out of stock for some time. Well, I managed to make my first purchase on the site. I have Wollmise (3 skeins of sock yarn) but I purchased them from The Loopy Ewe. I managed to get a skein (which is over 1700 yards!) of Ballerina which is Muted lilac-shades. I can't wait to get it in the mail! I'll post a picture here when I get it.
